Family Medical Leave Act of 1993

Home/Areas of Practice/Family Medical Leave Act of 1993

The Family Medical Leave Act was enacted by the 103rd US Congress and signed into law by President Bill Clinton in 1993 as key legislation protecting the rights of employees with families. Under FMLA employees are afforded the right to 12 work weeks of unpaid leave for the following purposes: pregnancy or birth of a newborn, adoption and foster care, and the serious illness of an employee or their close relative.

Law Offices of Charles Eiss help employers understand how to be in compliance with FMLA and represent employers in FMLA claims. We also represent employees who may have an FMLA claim against their employer.
